Most Android players hand audio to the system mixer, which resamples whatever it likes to whatever the device happens to be running. Bitperfect claims the USB device node directly — exclusive access, no mixer in the path — and drives it at the file's own rate.

On-Device AI
An enhancer that reconstructs what lossy encoding discarded, and a mixer that maps your library. Both models execute on the device — nothing is uploaded. No audio, no fingerprints, no titles.
Lossy encoding throws away content between its cutoff and the format's own ceiling, and roughens what it keeps. During playback, the enhancer reconstructs a plausible estimate of that missing content — in-band, at the same sample rate, never bolting a new octave on top. It predicts phase as well as amplitude, which is the part that naive "fill the top" tricks skip, and why those sound metallic.
The engine runs a custom deep neural network optimized for direct on-device hardware acceleration. An optimized model is automatically compiled and target-matched for your device's specific hardware capability, downloading only what your phone requires. In Restore mode, it repairs damage below the cutoff — quantization noise and smeared transients — as well as reconstructing high-frequency detail.
Before offering it, the app measures that accelerator and enables only what runs in real time. If your phone can't, the enhancer stays hidden and playback is untouched. When it's on, the signal state re-reads as enhanced — the badge never claims a purity the DSP spent.
Real-time neural inference: ~45 ms latency per chunk (RTF 0.15), well within the 348 ms real-time buffer window.

Pick a few tags — mood, era, energy — and it builds a mix from your library. Not a stream, not other people's music. Tracks you already own, re-sequenced.
Mixes also arrive on Home on their own: a favourites mix, rediscoveries you haven't played in months, decade mixes. Any track can start a radio of its neighbours, and AI search finds music by description.
The mechanism, plainly: two on-device models read every track at five points — a similarity embedding and a 50-tag analyzer. Your library gets a map. The map never leaves the phone.

No. Bitperfect plays through your phone's own output too. But the default system path routes through the system mixer, which sets its own rate — so the bit-perfect state specifically describes USB Audio Class 2 output to an external DAC. The app labels whichever path you are actually on.
Yes. Every AI feature ships off and stays off until you enable it — they are part of Pro. The enhancer alters the signal by design, so switching it on re-labels the signal state as enhanced rather than bit-perfect. That is deliberate: the badge never claims a purity the DSP just spent.
Three things. Crash reports — on by default, and one switch turns them off. Artwork lookups — on by default, also switchable — which send artist and album names to public image sources and nothing more. And a one-time download of model files when you enable an AI feature. That is the whole list: no analytics, no ads, no account, no listening history. Audio never leaves the phone.
API 26 through current, on every ABI. Everything except the AI Enhancer runs on any device that clears that bar. The Enhancer needs hardware NPU acceleration — flagship-class platforms from 2022 onward, premium mid-range from 2024 — and the app probes the accelerator before enabling the feature rather than assuming it will work.
